Geropsychiatric Services

Changes brought on by the aging process can be challenging and overwhelming,
and sometimes even debilitating. Increased awareness and understanding of the
relationship between physical and mental well being of an aging person greatly
enhances the healing process.

As part of our mission to meet the community needs, Pioneer Community Hospital
of Aberdeen recently opened a Geropsychiatric inpatient unit.

The unit serves senior age patients suffering from emotional and psychological
distress, such as:

Depression
Anxiety
Changes or problem with medication

Our treatment approach provides:
Individual treatment planning
Individual and family therapy
Group therapy
Medication management
Discharge planning

With a treatment team including: Psychiatrists, Registered and Licensed
Practical Nurses and Clinical Social Workers we are confidence that our staff
can provide a soothing, comfortable environment in which to treat and serve our
aging population.
