In December, 2005 we completed extensive renovations throughout our Emergency Room department. The number of our private rooms and trauma rooms was expanded to accommodate the growing needs of the community. In total, we invested nearly $100,000 in personnel, equipment and technologies. When we came to the completion of the facilities renovation, we decided to go a step further and give our patients the attention they truly deserve when visiting our new ER.

If you’ve ever been to an Emergency Room, more than likely you had to suffer an unreasonable wait along with your ailment. Talk about adding insult to injury. The average wait time in Emergency Rooms across the county is 4 to 6 hours. At Pioneer Community Hospital, we are doing something about it. We're making a promise to our ER patients and we're backing it up with a guarantee.

We are proud to announce our Less Wait or It's Free, ER Guarantee. It’s the first of its kind in this state. We guarantee that our ER patients will see a medical professional within 15 minutes or the visit is totally free. That’s right, 15 or $0!

Here’s how it works. The 15 minute guarantee begins once a patient comes to the ER and signs a registration form. Patients are then admitted to a triage room within fifteen minutes where a specially trained triage nurse assesses the patient while consulting with a physician or nurse practitioner. Evaluations are made of vital signs, visual and physical clues and patient information to determine if there is a critical problem. Our compassionate staff then takes great care to explain the assessment, any medical procedures needed and treatment options to the patient and their loved ones. After the emergency determination has been made, only then will a clerk come to the patient to fill out paperwork.

Our focus is to provide each patient with quality care. If a patient’s condition is assessed as non-emergent, our medical staff will help the patient make arrangements to visit with one of our clinics if necessary. By following this course of action, we can help minimize any out-of-pocket expense for the patient, and it also ensures that patients who need emergency medical attention receive treatment promptly.

Pioneer is guaranteeing that the ER facility fee is free if the patient is not seen by a medical professional within 15 minutes. The facility fee does not include any ancillary fees, i.e. radiology services. Patients are not entitled to receive the cash equivalent of the fees if the 15 minute guarantee is not met.
